The Government of Tamil Nadu has launched the ‘Singappen Special Force’, a dedicated all-women security unit aimed at enhancing women’s safety across the state. The initiative was officially inaugurated by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay as part of a broader effort to strengthen law enforcement and improve public safety for women.

The newly formed force will consist of specially trained women police personnel equipped to respond to crimes against women, provide rapid assistance in emergencies, and increase security in public spaces. Authorities said the unit will work closely with local police stations and community organizations to ensure quicker responses to complaints and incidents.

A key feature of the initiative is the use of advanced technology, including drone surveillance and real-time monitoring systems, to help identify potential threats and improve public safety. Officials believe these tools will enhance preventive policing and strengthen security measures in urban as well as rural areas.

Speaking at the launch event, the Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a safer environment for women and girls. He stated that the force would not only help deter crime but also build greater confidence among women in accessing public spaces without fear.

The launch of the Singappen Special Force has been welcomed by many women’s rights advocates, who view it as a positive step toward improving safety and security across Tamil Nadu.
