A massive gritty set inspired by North Chennai’s raw streetscape has reportedly been constructed along Chennai’s East Coast Road (ECR) for the upcoming Tamil film Arasan. The movie stars Silambarasan TR and Vijay Sethupathi, with direction associated with the intense, realistic style popularized by filmmaker Vetrimaaran.
The large-scale production design recreates the rugged atmosphere of North Chennai, featuring narrow lanes, old-style buildings, graffiti walls, and crowded market visuals. Reports suggest the set was specially designed to deliver an authentic “Vada Chennai” vibe for key action and emotional sequences in the film.
The project has already generated strong buzz among Tamil cinema fans, especially because of the collaboration between STR and Vijay Sethupathi.
