Motorists in Chennai will face significant traffic changes as the left-side service road on Jawaharlal Nehru Road (100 Feet Road) at Thirumangalam Junction has been closed for one year, effective July 13, 2026. The closure is part of ongoing infrastructure works aimed at improving road connectivity and supporting major urban development projects in the area.
According to the Chennai Traffic Police, vehicles travelling from the Padi Flyover towards Ambattur must use diversion routes via 18th Main Road or 6th Avenue. Traffic moving towards Koyambedu can continue using the Thirumangalam Flyover. Authorities have installed barricades, directional signs, and deployed traffic personnel to help regulate vehicle movement during the construction period.
Officials have advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra travel time during peak hours, and follow the designated diversion routes to reduce congestion. The year-long closure is expected to improve infrastructure and traffic flow once the project is completed.
