Marina Beach witnessed heightened security arrangements on Thursday as Chennai Police deployed additional personnel across key entry points and public gathering areas. Authorities increased surveillance following concerns over possible protests and large public gatherings along the beachfront.
Barricades were placed at several access roads leading to Marina Beach, while police teams conducted continuous patrols throughout the day. Officials said the measures were taken to maintain public safety and avoid any law and order issues in the city.
Traffic movement near Kamarajar Salai and surrounding roads was also monitored closely, with commuters advised to expect temporary diversions during peak hours. Security personnel were seen checking vehicles and monitoring crowd movement near memorials and major public zones around the beach.
Police officials stated that the security deployment was precautionary and aimed at ensuring smooth movement of the public and tourists visiting the beach area. Marina Beach remains one of Chennai’s most visited public spaces and frequently witnesses heavy footfall during evenings and weekends.
