Hyderabad: A major leak in the Manjeera Phase-II water supply pipeline near Rudraram village has disrupted drinking water supply across several parts of Hyderabad, prompting the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) to launch emergency repair work.
The leakage occurred in the main pipeline supplying water to several western and central parts of the city. Officials immediately initiated repair measures and reviewed the situation to restore normal supply at the earliest.
Areas expected to face disruption include RC Puram, Ashok Nagar, Jyothi Nagar, Lingampally, Chandanagar, Gangaram, Madinaguda, Miyapur, Beeramguda and Ameenpur. Bhagyanagar Colony and several bulk connection and off-take points are also affected.
The disruption also extends to parts of Erragadda, SR Nagar, Ameerpet, KPHB Colony, Kukatpally and Pragathi Nagar, according to information issued by the water board.
HMWSSB Managing Director K. Ashok Reddy reviewed the repair operations and directed officials from the Operations and Maintenance and Transmission wings to coordinate closely and complete the work as quickly as possible.
To reduce inconvenience to residents, the Water Board has arranged tanker services in affected areas wherever required. Officials have also appealed to consumers to use available water carefully until regular supply is restored.
Residents in the affected localities have been advised to plan their water usage and avoid unnecessary consumption during the disruption. The HMWSSB is continuing repair activities with the aim of restoring normal drinking water supply as soon as possible.
