Hyderabad, October 3, 2026: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive Child Online Safety Framework aimed at protecting children from cybercrime, online exploitation and other digital threats while ensuring access to justice.

The proposed framework will be developed in consultation with the Telangana High Court and Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TGSLSA). The Chief Minister announced the initiative while addressing the inaugural session of the National Legal Services Authority’s South Zone Regional Conference in Hyderabad, held under the theme “Justice for Children in Cyberspace.”

Revanth Reddy stressed that parents should also be involved in developing and implementing online-safety measures. He urged families to maintain open communication with children about their internet activities and potential online risks.

The Chief Minister also highlighted two important helplines: 1930 for reporting cybercrime and 1098 for child assistance.

Telangana already operates several programmes intended to improve the safety of women and children. These include Bharosa centres, which provide police assistance, medical support, legal aid and counselling under one roof, as well as SHE-Bharosa Cyber Labs operated by the Women Safety Wing.

The government is also using the CybHER initiative to educate students and teachers about cyber safety. Students are being encouraged to become cyber ambassadors and help spread awareness among their classmates.

In addition, TGSLSA has entered into an agreement with the School Education Department to educate students about their legal rights. According to the Chief Minister, more than 3,000 Child Protection Officers have already received training.

The planned framework comes amid growing concern about risks children can encounter online, including cyberbullying, fraud, misinformation and exploitation. The government says coordinated efforts involving parents, schools, police, courts and child-protection agencies will be central to strengthening children’s safety in digital spaces.
