Thiruvananthapuram, July 24: Youth Congress activists staged protests at various locations in Kerala on Friday, demanding strong action over the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 examination and expressing solidarity with the nationwide student movement seeking greater transparency and accountability in competitive examinations.
In Kollam, Youth Congress workers organised a protest march to the Head Post Office, raising slogans against the Union Government and calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Demonstrators alleged that repeated examination irregularities had undermined students’ confidence in the country’s competitive examination system and demanded a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the alleged paper leak.
Police deployed barricades and security personnel at key locations to maintain law and order during the demonstrations. Television visuals showed some protesters climbing barricades while attempting to move towards the protest venue. However, authorities managed the situation, and no major incidents of violence were reported during the demonstrations.
The protests formed part of a broader wave of demonstrations taking place across the country following allegations of irregularities in the NEET examination. Student organisations and youth groups have demanded reforms to strengthen the integrity of national entrance examinations and ensure equal opportunities for aspiring medical students.
Youth Congress leaders said that students who dedicate years of preparation deserve a transparent and credible examination process. They urged the Central Government to introduce stronger safeguards against examination malpractice, improve security in the conduct of national-level tests, and ensure swift action against those responsible for any irregularities.
The NEET controversy has also triggered political reactions in Kerala, with various student and youth organisations organising separate demonstrations across the state. The issue continues to dominate public debate as demands grow for systemic reforms, greater accountability, and stronger measures to protect the integrity of competitive examinations.
