The Greater Chennai Traffic Police carried out a special enforcement drive across the city and booked more than 2,900 traffic violations during a three-day operation aimed at improving road safety and reducing accident risks.
Officials said the campaign focused on common violations including helmet non-compliance, unsafe driving behaviour, documentation checks, and enforcement of traffic regulations in busy city zones. The initiative was conducted between June 12 and June 14 and forms part of broader efforts to improve road discipline and traffic movement in Chennai.
Authorities indicated that similar enforcement measures may continue in the coming weeks as part of ongoing urban traffic management and accident-prevention initiatives. Citizens were advised to follow traffic rules and maintain safe driving practices during daily travel.
