Kerala Chief Minister V. D. The proposed department is expected to focus on healthcare, social security, rehabilitation services, community-based support, and protection from abuse.
Officials have also been instructed to ensure that complaints involving elder abuse are investigated promptly and that victims receive necessary legal and social support. Law enforcement agencies are expected to work closely with social welfare departments, local bodies, and community organizations to strengthen protection measures.
Social welfare experts have welcomed the Chief Minister’s statement, pointing out that Kerala’s aging population requires increased attention and specialized services.
