Actor-turned-politician Vijay has intensified political activity in Tamil Nadu after asserting that his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is prepared to form the next state government as alliance discussions gather momentum ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

Speaking during a party strategy meeting in Chennai, Vijay reportedly emphasized that TVK is no longer aiming to play a supporting role in state politics and is instead positioning itself as a major alternative to the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).

Party insiders indicate that informal talks are ongoing with several regional outfits and community-based political groups to explore possible electoral alliances. Political analysts believe TVK’s growing youth support base and Vijay’s popularity could influence alliance calculations across the state.

Meanwhile, leaders from major parties have reacted cautiously to Vijay’s statements. DMK representatives dismissed the claim as “premature political enthusiasm,” while AIADMK leaders said the real electoral strength of TVK would only become clear during statewide campaigning.

TVK has recently expanded its district-level organizational structure, launched membership drives, and increased grassroots outreach across urban and rural Tamil Nadu. The party is expected to announce further campaign strategies and possible alliance partners in the coming months as election preparations intensify.
