HYDERABAD, September 14, 2026: Train services in the Secunderabad division were briefly disrupted on Sunday night after an overhead electrical equipment (OHE) failure was reported between Secunderabad and Lalaguda stations near Moulali.

The incident occurred at around 10.38 pm, when overhead power lines reportedly snapped and fell onto a moving Intercity Express. A loud noise and electrical sparks were reported, following which the train was stopped near Moulali as a precaution.

Some passengers reportedly stepped out of the train amid the confusion. Railway officials immediately reached the site and began restoration work to repair the affected overhead equipment and restore normal train movement.

According to South Central Railway (SCR), there were no casualties or injuries in the incident. The disruption was temporary, with a few trains detained or regulated for less than 10 minutes before services resumed.

Train No. 12795 Vijayawada–Lingampalli Intercity Express, which was affected by the OHE failure, was subsequently moved towards Secunderabad. Railway authorities confirmed that both up and down services in the section were operating normally after restoration work.

The incident comes amid continued emphasis by railway authorities on the maintenance and timely replacement of ageing OHE components. Earlier this month, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had directed officials to ensure proper maintenance and replacement of OHE equipment that had completed its prescribed service life.

Railway officials continue to monitor the affected section as part of routine safety measures, while train operations in the Secunderabad–Lalaguda corridor have returned to normal.
