A group of students from Hyderabad has been selected for the prestigious Young Scientist Programme (YUVIKA) organised by the Indian Space Research Organisation. The programme aims to encourage school students to explore careers in space science, astronomy, and technology by offering practical exposure to India’s growing space sector.

Students chosen from various schools across Telangana will participate in workshops, laboratory sessions, rocket science demonstrations, and interactions with scientists at ISRO centres. Officials said the initiative is designed to inspire young minds and build interest in STEM education at an early stage. Participants will also learn about satellite systems, launch vehicles, space exploration missions, and India’s achievements in the global space industry.

Teachers and parents have welcomed the opportunity, calling it a major confidence boost for students interested in science and innovation. Several selected students said they were excited to visit research facilities and interact directly with scientists working on national space missions.

Education experts believe programmes like YUVIKA play a key role in motivating students toward careers in engineering, research, and advanced technology sectors. Hyderabad, already known for its strong IT and pharmaceutical industries, has also become an important centre for aerospace and defence-related education.

Meanwhile, Telangana education officials are encouraging more schools to participate in science-based competitions and national-level innovation initiatives. Experts say growing awareness about India’s space missions has increased student interest in astronomy and scientific research across the state.

With India preparing for future lunar, satellite, and human spaceflight missions, initiatives like YUVIKA are expected to help develop the next generation of scientists and engineers who could contribute to the country’s expanding space ambitions.
