The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts for Hyderabad and several Telangana districts as thunderstorms, gusty winds, and scattered rainfall are expected over the next few days. Officials stated that changing atmospheric conditions are likely to bring light to moderate rain in parts of Hyderabad, especially during evening and night hours.

According to the latest IMD bulletin, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and winds reaching 30–50 kmph are expected in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, and nearby districts on May 9 and May 10. Authorities have issued a yellow alert for isolated areas due to possible sudden weather changes and strong winds.

Meteorologists explained that a trough extending from southern India toward central regions is influencing weather patterns across Telangana. Due to this system, temperatures in Hyderabad may slightly dip compared to recent heatwave conditions. Several areas are likely to experience cloudy skies, brief showers, and thunderstorms during late afternoons or evenings.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has reportedly kept emergency response teams on alert to handle possible waterlogging, traffic congestion, and tree fall incidents during rainfall. Traffic police also advised commuters to drive carefully during sudden showers because slippery roads and low visibility could affect traffic movement in busy areas of the city.

Weather experts noted that while widespread heavy flooding is not currently expected across Hyderabad city, isolated intense rainfall and thunderstorms may occur in some regions of Telangana. Residents are advised to remain cautious during lightning activity and avoid staying outdoors during strong winds or thunderstorms.
