Unexpected heavy rains have caused significant disruption in Hyderabad, leading to waterlogging in several low-lying areas. Roads were flooded, causing traffic jams and delays for commuters across the city.

The sudden rainfall caught many residents off guard, especially as it comes during a period of high temperatures. Drainage systems in some areas struggled to handle the excess water, highlighting infrastructure challenges.

Civic authorities, including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), deployed teams to clear water and ensure smooth traffic flow. Emergency response units were also activated to assist affected residents.

Several schools reported delays, and office-goers faced difficulties reaching their workplaces. Public transport services were also affected due to flooded roads.

Experts point out that rapid urbanization has put pressure on the city’s drainage systems. Encroachments and improper waste disposal often block water flow, worsening the situation during heavy rains.

Officials have urged citizens to avoid waterlogged routes and follow safety guidelines. They have also promised to improve drainage infrastructure to prevent similar incidents in the future.
