Bengaluru has slipped to third place among Indian cities in terms of metro rail network length, as rapid expansion in other cities outpaces its growth.
The Namma Metro currently operates around 96 km of track with 83 stations. However, cities like Mumbai have expanded their metro networks more quickly, pushing Bengaluru down in rankings.
Despite adding new sections in the past year, progress has been slower than expected due to construction delays, funding issues, and shortages of metro coaches. These challenges have also led to less frequent train services, affecting daily commuters.
