Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has resigned from his position following the defeat of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the Kerala Assembly elections. The resignation was submitted to the Governor soon after the election results confirmed a decisive loss for the ruling alliance.

The LDF, which had been in power, faced strong anti-incumbency sentiment across several constituencies. Early trends had already indicated a challenging outcome, and the final results confirmed a clear mandate in favor of the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF).

In his response, Vijayan acknowledged the verdict of the people and stated that the government respects the democratic process. He expressed gratitude to the citizens for their support during his tenure and highlighted key achievements of the administration, including welfare initiatives and infrastructure development.

With the resignation, the existing cabinet is expected to continue in a caretaker role until the new government is officially formed. Meanwhile, the victorious UDF has begun internal discussions regarding leadership selection and cabinet formation.

Political observers note that this marks a significant shift in Kerala’s political landscape, as the change in leadership is likely to influence governance priorities and policy directions in the coming years.

As the transition process begins, attention now turns to the formation of the new government and the decisions that will shape the state’s future.
