Thiruvananthapuram, September 5, 2026: Kerala is celebrating Sree Krishna Jayanti, also known as Ashtami Rohini, with colourful processions, devotional programmes and traditional festivities across the state. The festival commemorates the birth of Lord Krishna and is observed with deep religious devotion and cultural enthusiasm.
Temples, cultural organisations and community groups have arranged special prayers, rituals and celebrations. Devotees have decorated temples and homes with flowers, lamps and traditional ornaments, while programmes highlighting Lord Krishna’s life and teachings are being conducted in several locations.
Children dressed as little Krishnas and Radhas are among the main attractions of the celebrations. Their participation has added colour, joy and a festive atmosphere to events organised in towns and villages. Families are also taking part in competitions, cultural programmes and devotional gatherings.
Special Shobha Yatras and devotional processions are being held in different parts of Kerala. Children and families are participating in large numbers, carrying images of Lord Krishna and singing devotional songs. Traditional music, bhajans, dance performances and cultural presentations are also forming part of the celebrations.
Many temples have organised special offerings, prayers and night-long devotional programmes to mark the auspicious occasion. Devotees are gathering to listen to stories from Krishna’s life, including his childhood, teachings and role in Hindu tradition.
The celebrations are being conducted with an emphasis on devotion, cultural heritage and community participation. Organisers and local authorities have made arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of processions and public programmes.
Sree Krishna Jayanti remains one of Kerala’s prominent religious and cultural festivals, bringing together people of all ages in a spirit of faith, tradition and collective celebration.
