The Great Indian Bustard, once widespread across India’s grasslands and scrublands, now survives mainly in parts of Rajasthan and a few isolated pockets elsewhere. Fewer than 200 individuals are believed to remain in the wild, making it one of the world’s rarest birds. Habitat loss, infrastructure development, and collisions with overhead power lines are among the leading threats to its survival.
