Hyderabad and Telangana have witnessed a significant improvement in education outcomes, as the 2026 Intermediate Public Examination results recorded the highest pass percentage in five years. According to official data, the second-year pass percentage reached 75.6%, up from 71.4% in 2025.

A total of over 4 lakh students appeared for the exams, out of which more than 3.1 lakh successfully passed. Among them, a large number of students secured top grades, with over 2 lakh achieving ‘A’ grade. The results indicate steady academic progress in the state’s education system.

One of the most notable trends this year is the continued strong performance of girls. Female students significantly outperformed boys in both first- and second-year results. In second year, girls achieved an impressive pass rate of 81.8%, compared to 68.9% among boys.

Interestingly, government colleges showed better results compared to many private institutions, highlighting improvements in public education quality. Officials credited better teaching methods, digital learning tools, and increased monitoring for this progress.

However, not all indicators were positive. The first-year pass percentage dropped slightly to 66.9%, compared to 69.4% last year. Authorities say they will analyze the reasons behind this decline and take corrective measures.

Students who are not satisfied with their marks have been given the option to apply for recounting or reverification within a specified period.

Overall, the results reflect a positive trend in Telangana’s education sector, with Hyderabad playing a major role as an academic hub. The improved performance is expected to boost student confidence and enhance opportunities for higher education.
