Ukraine has sharply increased its medium-range and long-range drone strikes against Russian military infrastructure and energy facilities, marking one of the most aggressive phases of the war in recent months. Ukrainian forces reportedly targeted oil refineries, fuel depots, radar systems, and logistics hubs located hundreds of kilometers inside Russian territory.
According to Reuters, Ukrainian commanders say the strikes are disrupting Russian supply chains and weakening Moscow’s ability to sustain battlefield operations. Several refineries, including facilities in Ryazan, Perm, Tuapse, and Syzran, were forced to suspend or reduce operations after repeated drone attacks caused fires and infrastructure damage.
Russian authorities claimed air defense systems intercepted thousands of Ukrainian drones in recent weeks, including multiple drones aimed toward Moscow. Despite interceptions, some attacks reportedly caused significant damage to industrial sites and military infrastructure.
Analysts say Ukraine’s growing drone capabilities are reshaping the conflict by allowing Kyiv to strike strategic targets far beyond the front lines. The attacks have also raised concerns about energy exports, environmental risks, and wider regional security tensions.
