The newly formed Kerala government led by V. D. Satheesan has officially finalized the allocation of cabinet portfolios following the recent swearing-in ceremony. The Chief Minister has retained the crucial Finance department along with several key administrative responsibilities, signaling the government’s focus on economic management and development planning.

According to official sources, senior ministers have been assigned important departments including Home, Health, Education, Public Works, Tourism, and Industries. The portfolio distribution was finalized after discussions within the ruling coalition to ensure balanced representation among alliance partners and experienced leaders.

Political observers believe the decision to keep the Finance portfolio under the Chief Minister’s direct control reflects the administration’s priority to strengthen Kerala’s financial stability, accelerate infrastructure projects, and address economic challenges facing the state. The new government is also expected to focus on employment generation, welfare programs, and investment opportunities.

Meanwhile, the allocation of the Home department to a senior cabinet member has attracted significant public attention, as the state government prepares to handle issues related to law and order, public safety, and disaster management ahead of the monsoon season.

The cabinet formation has been welcomed by party supporters across Kerala, with celebrations reported in several districts following the announcement. Opposition leaders, however, stated that the performance of the new ministers would be closely monitored, especially regarding election promises and governance reforms.

Government officials indicated that the first cabinet meeting will focus on urgent administrative matters, including monsoon preparedness, infrastructure development, healthcare improvements, and pending welfare schemes. Departments are also expected to review ongoing projects and prepare action plans for the coming months.

The portfolio allocation marks the beginning of the new administration’s governance agenda as Kerala enters a politically significant phase under the leadership of V. D. Satheesan and the newly sworn-in cabinet.
