Veteran Tamil film producer and director K. Rajan passed away in Chennai on Sunday after an alleged suicide incident near the Adyar River. Police officials confirmed that an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

According to reports, the 85-year-old producer had travelled with his driver to the Thiru-Vi-Ka Bridge area before allegedly jumping into the river. Rescue teams later recovered the body and sent it for postmortem examination at Royapettah Government Hospital.

K Rajan was known in the Tamil film industry for his outspoken speeches on cinema economics, actor salaries, and production challenges. Over several decades, he worked as a producer, director, writer, and actor in Tamil cinema and remained a familiar public figure at film events.

Several actors and film personalities, including Khushbu Sundar and Vishal, expressed shock and condolences following the news of his demise.
