The long-awaited Ejipura-Kendriya Sadan flyover project in Bengaluru continues to face delays despite years of construction work and repeated completion deadlines. The 2.4-kilometer flyover, originally launched in 2017, was designed to reduce traffic congestion across the city’s southeastern corridor and improve connectivity between key residential and commercial areas. However, multiple construction challenges have slowed the project significantly.

According to reports, issues such as slow execution, payment disputes with subcontractors, and land-related complications contributed to the delays over the years. A major hurdle involved obtaining permissions near St. John’s Medical College Hospital, which affected progress on a crucial section of the flyover. Authorities confirmed that the issue was resolved earlier this year, allowing construction activities to move forward more rapidly.

The project had earlier changed contractors after intervention from the Karnataka High Court. Civic authorities reassigned the work to a new infrastructure company in an effort to speed up construction and ensure better project management. Officials now expect the flyover to be completed by October 2026, though many residents remain skeptical due to previous missed deadlines.

Commuters using the Ejipura and Koramangala areas continue to experience heavy traffic congestion, especially during office hours. Residents and daily travelers have repeatedly voiced frustration over prolonged construction work, damaged roads, and traffic bottlenecks caused by incomplete infrastructure.

Urban planning experts believe the delay reflects larger infrastructure management challenges faced by Bengaluru as the city rapidly expands. Many citizens are now calling for stricter monitoring of public projects and improved coordination between civic agencies to ensure timely completion of major developments.

Despite the setbacks, officials say the completed flyover is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve connectivity once operational.
