The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds across several parts of the country between September 17 and 23. Some regions could also experience isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The weather activity is expected across northern, northeastern, central and southern parts of India. The forecast includes areas such as Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

Several northeastern states are also included in the weather advisory. In parts of southern India, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected during the forecast period. Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are among the areas mentioned in the latest weather outlook.

The IMD has also warned of lightning and gusty winds in several locations. People in areas expecting thunderstorms are generally advised to follow official local weather warnings and take appropriate precautions during severe weather.

Weather conditions can vary significantly from one district to another, so the national forecast should not be treated as a precise prediction for every location.

The continuing rainfall is also relevant for agriculture, transport and local water management, particularly in areas receiving heavy precipitation over short periods.
