The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread monsoon activity across large parts of the country, issuing heavy to very heavy rainfall alerts for several states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and parts of Northeast India. Authorities have warned residents in vulnerable areas about the possibility of flash floods, waterlogging and landslides.
Northern hill states are expected to receive intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. In central India, heavy showers are likely to continue over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, while western states such as Gujarat and Maharashtra remain under heavy rainfall warnings. Eastern India, including Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal, is also expected to witness widespread rain and lightning activity.
The IMD has advised people living near rivers, hilly terrain and flood-prone regions to stay updated with local weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall. Disaster response teams remain on alert in several states to respond quickly in case of emergencies. State governments have instructed district administrations to closely monitor vulnerable locations and ensure preparedness for any weather-related incidents.
