The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall alerts for several states as the southwest monsoon remains active across the country. Northern, western, and southern regions are expected to receive intense showers accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds over the coming days.
States including Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and parts of the Northeast are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall. Authorities have warned of possible urban flooding, waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and localized landslides in hilly regions.
State disaster management agencies have placed emergency teams on standby while municipal authorities are clearing drainage systems to reduce flooding risks. Fishermen have also been advised to avoid venturing into rough sea conditions along vulnerable coastal areas.
Residents are encouraged to monitor official weather updates, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, and stay away from flood-prone areas. Schools and local administrations in some regions are also reviewing precautionary measures depending on rainfall intensity.
