Thiruvananthapuram, September 10, 2026: Authorities have issued a high-wave warning for parts of the Thiruvananthapuram coast, with swell waves of 0.9 to 1.0 metres expected between Thursday morning and Friday morning. The warning has been issued as part of a swell-surge advisory from the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS).

According to the advisory, the warning is valid from 8:30 AM on September 10 until 8:30 AM on September 11. The affected coastal stretch extends from Kappil to Pozhiyoor in Thiruvananthapuram district.

The advisory warns of the possibility of wave surging and sea incursion along the coast. The swell waves are expected to have a period of around 15 to 19 seconds, which could cause stronger wave action along vulnerable coastal areas.

Residents living close to the shoreline have been advised to remain cautious during the warning period. Fishermen and boat operators have also been urged to exercise utmost vigilance while operating at sea. INCOIS has advised that recreational activities near the affected coastal areas should be undertaken only with due care.

The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has also highlighted the advisory on its official warning system. KSDMA monitors sea conditions and relies on INCOIS forecasts for wave-height and related coastal alerts.

Authorities have urged coastal communities to follow official updates and avoid unnecessary exposure to the shoreline during periods of strong wave activity. Fishermen are advised to take particular care while launching or operating boats.

The warning is expected to remain in effect until 8:30 AM on September 11, after which authorities will assess the latest ocean conditions and issue further advisories if necessary.
