Several parts of India are facing heavy-rain and thunderstorm risks as the monsoon remains active. Weather authorities have warned of heavy rainfall in multiple regions, with states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh among areas facing weather concerns. Strong winds and thunderstorms are also possible in some locations.

The India Meteorological Department has also forecast significant rainfall activity in eastern, northeastern and central parts of the country. East Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand and parts of West Bengal are among the areas highlighted in recent forecasts. Southern states, including Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, are also expected to receive scattered rainfall during the period.

Heavy rainfall can create several challenges, including waterlogging, flooding, landslides and disruptions to road and rail transport. Lightning and strong winds may also pose risks to people, particularly in exposed outdoor areas.

Residents in affected areas are being advised to monitor local weather alerts and follow instructions from local authorities. Travellers should also check road and transport conditions before beginning journeys.

The continuing monsoon activity remains important for agriculture and water resources, but excessive rainfall can create significant short-term disruption.
