Several parts of Gujarat are experiencing another spell of heavy rainfall, with the India Meteorological Department warning of continued rain in parts of the state. Areas including Saurashtra and Kutch are under weather alerts as an active weather system affects western and central India.

The IMD has reported that a low-pressure area over southeast Rajasthan and northern Gujarat is contributing to the current rainfall activity. Heavy rain is expected in several areas, with thunderstorms and strong winds also possible.

Rainfall has already been recorded across a large number of Gujarat’s talukas. Some areas have received several inches of rain within a 24-hour period, increasing the possibility of local flooding and waterlogging.

Authorities and residents have been advised to remain cautious, particularly in areas vulnerable to flooding. Travellers are also being encouraged to check local weather conditions before beginning journeys.

At the same time, the IMD says conditions are becoming favourable for the Southwest Monsoon to begin withdrawing from parts of western Rajasthan around September 19, indicating that the seasonal transition is approaching even though heavy rainfall continues in parts of western India.
