The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has continued the yellow alert in Ernakulam district as heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are expected to persist across the region. Weather officials warned that gusty winds reaching up to 40–50 kmph may occur in isolated areas.

Authorities have advised residents to:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel during intense rain
  • Stay away from waterlogged and low-lying areas
  • Remain cautious during lightning activity
  • Follow official disaster management advisories

Recent heavy rains have already caused localized damage in parts of the district, including partially damaged houses and fallen trees in some regions. Disaster management teams and local authorities remain on alert as unstable weather conditions continue.

The IMD stated that the ongoing pre-monsoon activity is likely to continue over the coming days, bringing intermittent rainfall and thunderstorms across central Kerala. Fishermen have also been cautioned about rough sea conditions along the Kerala coast.
