The Election Commission of India has officially announced the schedule for the upcoming Assembly elections in several key states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Assam. According to the announcement, polling will take place in multiple phases to ensure smooth conduct of the democratic process and to allow adequate security arrangements across all constituencies.

The Election Commission stated that the phased voting schedule will help manage logistics efficiently, especially in states with large populations and geographically diverse regions. Security personnel from central and state forces will be deployed to maintain law and order at polling stations and to guarantee a free and fair electoral process. The commission also emphasized the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) along with Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) systems to enhance transparency and voter confidence.

In addition to announcing polling dates, the commission released guidelines related to the Model Code of Conduct, which comes into effect immediately. Political parties and candidates must follow strict rules regarding campaign activities, public rallies, advertisements, and the use of government resources during the election period.

Authorities are also encouraging voters to verify their names in the electoral rolls and participate actively in the voting process. Special arrangements will be made to facilitate elderly voters, persons with disabilities, and first-time voters.

The Assembly elections in these states are expected to witness intense political competition, with major national and regional parties gearing up for extensive campaigns as they seek to secure a mandate from millions of voters across the country news as reported.
