According to a report published by DT Next, passengers said the toilets are not being properly maintained and frequently lack adequate water. Some toilet doors and locks are reportedly damaged, leaving facilities unusable and creating particular difficulties for women, senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Passengers also complained of a strong foul smell and long waits during peak hours. One passenger told the newspaper that even basic facilities for collecting water were unavailable, while another said people sometimes wait 10–15 minutes to use the toilets. As a result, some passengers are using the paid toilets near the terminal entrance instead.
A Southern Railway official told DT Next that the issues would be examined. The official also said damage to railway property has been recurring and that authorities plan to increase public awareness and vigilance.
