The Delhi High Court has directed SAP India to restore its software services to Nayara Energy, according to a report published on September 22. The dispute arose after SAP India suspended services to the energy company in connection with European Union sanctions.
Nayara Energy argued that the software services were important for its regular business operations. The company sought continued access while the wider sanctions-related situation was being addressed. The court’s order requires SAP India to restore the services rather than allowing a further delay in implementation of the earlier decision.
The case has attracted attention because it involves the interaction between international sanctions, technology services and the operations of an energy company in India. Modern energy businesses rely heavily on enterprise software for finance, supply-chain management, procurement, logistics and other day-to-day functions.
The court also declined SAP India’s request for additional time before implementing the order. The development highlights how international regulatory measures can affect companies operating in India through their relationships with global technology providers.
The matter may continue to have significance for businesses that depend on international software platforms while operating in sectors connected to energy and global trade
