intensified into a deep depression. The system is expected to move toward the Odisha–Andhra Pradesh coast and cross the coast around the night of September 23. State authorities have increased preparedness by deploying personnel, machinery and emergency teams in vulnerable areas. Shelters have also been readied in coastal and southern districts to help residents if evacuation becomes necessary.
The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall, with extremely heavy rain possible in isolated areas. Several districts, including Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri, are under heightened weather alerts during September 23–25. Squally winds of around 55–65 kmph, with gusts potentially reaching 75 kmph, are also expected along parts of the coast.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and advising residents in vulnerable locations to follow official weather and emergency instructions. The system is currently forecast as a deep depression rather than a cyclone, although weather conditions will continue to be monitored.
