THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, September 17, 2026: The three-day ‘Reimagining Keralam’ Round Table Conference began in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, bringing together government departments, experts, investors, academics and other stakeholders to prepare implementation roadmaps for major development projects in the state.

The conference, being held from September 16 to 18, is organised around the theme “Ideas, Projects, Actions.” It focuses on translating projects announced in the state Budget into concrete plans with defined timelines, funding models and implementation responsibilities.

The initiative brings together 73 projects involving more than 40 departments. According to the government, 63 of these projects require coordination between multiple departments, while 10 are limited to individual departments.

In his inaugural address, Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan said the emphasis should be on implementing projects on time and maintaining quality rather than simply announcing them. He said the government intends to give the projects a clear shape within six months and bring them on track within two years.

The conference is divided into six thematic clusters. Discussions cover areas including industry, technology, artificial intelligence, tourism, startups, transport, disaster resilience, aviation, energy, higher education and other development sectors.

The first day’s discussions focused on industrial and technology-related initiatives, including Mission Samudra, investor-friendly consortiums, industrial corridors and artificial intelligence. Subsequent sessions are examining social development, tourism, startups, transport and disaster management, among other areas.

Officials and participating experts are examining project scope, detailed project reports, funding requirements, institutional responsibilities and implementation strategies. The government plans to consolidate the discussions into project-specific roadmaps identifying timelines and agencies responsible for execution.

The conference comes as the state government seeks to translate its development proposals into time-bound programmes through greater coordination between departments and external stakeholders. Its outcome will depend on how the proposed roadmaps are subsequently implemented and monitored.
