The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fresh warnings as monsoon activity continues across several parts of the country. A developing weather system over the north Bay of Bengal is expected to increase rainfall activity, particularly over eastern and northeastern India.

The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Odisha and other areas. Its latest information indicates that a low-pressure area forming over the north Bay of Bengal and nearby regions could contribute to increased rainfall between September 9 and 11.

Weather reports also indicate the possibility of thunderstorms and heavy showers across several northern and eastern states, including parts of Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Punjab and Uttarakhand.

Authorities and residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to monitor local weather updates, particularly in regions prone to flooding and landslides. Fishermen in affected coastal areas may also face restrictions depending on sea conditions.

The continuing rainfall is significant for agriculture because the monsoon remains an important source of water for India’s crops, reservoirs and groundwater systems. At the same time, excessive rainfall can create problems such as flooding, road disruptions, crop damage and landslides.

With the monsoon season entering its later phase, weather agencies are expected to closely monitor developing low-pressure systems and their movement. Residents should rely on official IMD and local administration alerts for location-specific warnings.
