Taiwanese companies are planning to invest an additional $20 billion in the United States, driven mainly by growing demand for artificial intelligence and advanced technology, Taiwan’s Economy Minister Kung Ming-hsin announced.

The planned investment is expected to strengthen cooperation between Taiwan and the United States, particularly in the semiconductor, technology and AI sectors. The announcement was made during the SEMICON trade show in Taipei.

The move comes as the United States continues to expand domestic semiconductor manufacturing and build a more secure technology supply chain. Taiwan’s technology companies are expected to play an increasingly important role in these efforts.

Major Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC has already announced significant investments in the United States, while the latest plans highlight the continuing expansion of Taiwanese technology investment overseas.
