Thiruvananthapuram, July 29: The Kerala Police Cyber Crime Wing has registered a case against political commentator T.G. Mohandas over controversial remarks he allegedly made in a YouTube video about recent student protests in Delhi linked to the alleged NEET paper leak issue. The case was registered following complaints that the statements promoted violence and contained offensive and misogynistic content.
According to the police, the complaint alleges that Mohandas made remarks advocating the use of force against protesters and included comments that drew widespread criticism on social media and from political organizations.
The statements prompted complaints from student groups, who argued that the remarks incited violence and undermined the democratic right to peaceful protest.
The controversy intensified after several political leaders and civil society organizations condemned the remarks. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) also issued a clarification stating that Mohandas does not hold any official position in the organization and that the views expressed were his personal opinions, distancing itself from the comments.
The Cyber Crime Wing has initiated an investigation into the matter and is expected to examine the video recordings and other digital evidence as part of the probe.
Officials have not yet announced whether any further legal action will be taken, stating that the investigation is ongoing.
