The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has suspended six officials, including four senior officers, following serious allegations of corruption. The disciplinary action is part of the civic body’s ongoing drive to strengthen transparency, accountability, and ethical governance within the municipal administration.
According to GCC officials, the allegations involve bribery, cash-for-jobs schemes, and misuse of public funds. Internal investigations reportedly uncovered irregularities in administrative processes, prompting immediate suspension of the officials while detailed inquiries continue.
The Corporation stated that it has adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption and that strict disciplinary and legal action will be taken against any employee found guilty of misconduct. Officials emphasized that maintaining public trust and ensuring transparent delivery of civic services remain top priorities.
