In one of the largest anti-corruption operations in recent years, the Karnataka Lokayukta conducted coordinated raids at 53 locations across the state targeting 10 government officials suspected of possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. The extensive operation covered Bengaluru and several other districts, with teams of Lokayukta police simultaneously searching residences, offices, and properties linked to the accused officials. Initial estimates suggest that assets worth nearly ₹50 crore have been identified during the searches.
According to Lokayukta officials, the raids were carried out following months of surveillance and preliminary investigations into allegations that the officials had accumulated wealth beyond their legitimate sources of income. Search teams reportedly recovered cash, gold jewellery, luxury vehicles, land documents, residential properties, commercial investments, and financial records that are now being examined as part of the investigation.
The officials under scrutiny belong to various government departments, including engineering, revenue, municipal administration, and public works. Authorities are verifying financial transactions, bank accounts, property registrations, and income records to determine whether the assets were acquired through corrupt practices or misuse of public office.
Lokayukta officers stated that the operation was conducted under strict legal procedures, with evidence being documented and seized in the presence of independent witnesses. Digital devices, official documents, and electronic records have also been taken into custody for forensic examination to trace possible financial irregularities and undisclosed assets.
The anti-corruption agency emphasized that the investigation is still in its preliminary stage and that the valuation of seized assets may change after detailed verification. Officials have not ruled out the possibility of registering additional cases if further evidence emerges linking other individuals or public servants to the alleged offences.
The large-scale operation has once again highlighted Karnataka’s continued efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability within the public administration. The Lokayukta has reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against corruption and has urged citizens to report cases of bribery and misuse of public office through official complaint mechanisms. Further legal proceedings are expected once the scrutiny of the recovered documents and financial records is completed.
