Thiruvananthapuram, July 4: Kerala Police have intensified their statewide campaign against narcotics under Operation Thoofan, leading to the arrest of 143 individuals and the registration of 131 cases during the latest phase of the special enforcement drive. The operation forms part of the state’s ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and substance abuse.
The coordinated crackdown was conducted across all districts, with police teams carrying out raids, vehicle inspections, and surveillance operations targeting suspected drug dealers, suppliers, and individuals involved in the illegal narcotics trade. The operation also focused on areas identified as drug hotspots based on intelligence inputs.
During the enforcement drive, police seized various narcotic substances, including cannabis, synthetic drugs, and other banned substances. Authorities also recovered cash, mobile phones, and vehicles believed to have been used in drug-related activities. The seized materials have been sent for further forensic examination as investigations continue.
Senior police officials stated that Operation Thoofan is part of a sustained strategy to dismantle drug distribution networks operating across Kerala. Investigators are working to identify larger supply chains and trace the sources of the seized narcotics, with further arrests expected in the coming weeks.
