NATO is finalizing preparations for its annual summit, which will take place in Ankara, Türkiye, on July 7–8. Leaders from all 32 NATO member states, including U.S. President Donald Trump and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, are expected to attend the high-level meeting hosted at the Presidential Complex.
The summit is expected to focus on strengthening the alliance’s collective defence, increasing defence spending, expanding military industrial cooperation, and reaffirming long-term support for Ukraine. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has emphasized that member nations must continue investing in defence capabilities while adapting to evolving global security challenges. European allies are also expected to present plans to fill capability gaps as the United States reduces some of its military commitments to the alliance.
Türkiye has implemented extensive security measures across Ankara ahead of the summit, deploying thousands of police officers, enhancing air defence readiness, and tightening security around key government buildings. The meeting comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions involving Russia, the Middle East, and broader transatlantic security concerns, making the Ankara summit one of NATO’s most closely watched gatherings in recent years.
