Venezuela continues large-scale recovery and rescue operations one week after two powerful earthquakes struck the country’s northern coastal region, leaving widespread destruction and triggering a major humanitarian response. Authorities and international aid teams remain focused on locating survivors, restoring essential services, and supporting displaced communities.
The twin earthquakes, reported at magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5, caused severe damage across affected areas, particularly around La Guaira and nearby communities. Thousands of emergency personnel, volunteers, and international rescue teams have been deployed as search operations continue in collapsed structures.
International assistance has expanded in recent days. The United States announced the deployment of more than 900 personnel to support logistics, search operations, airport restoration, and humanitarian coordination, while additional aid has arrived from multiple countries and relief organizations.
India has also contributed emergency medical support under Operation Amistad, including a field hospital and humanitarian assistance for affected communities. Local reports highlighted appreciation from residents receiving medical care and relief services.
