Kochi City Police have intensified their investigation into a major organ trafficking forgery case that has shocked Kerala’s healthcare sector. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently focusing on uncovering a network allegedly involved in creating fake documents used for illegal organ transplantation procedures.

According to police officials, forged identity documents and fabricated relationship certificates were allegedly used to bypass legal regulations governing organ donations. Investigators suspect that the accused manipulated official paperwork to falsely present unrelated individuals as close relatives of organ recipients, which is required under transplantation laws.

The case came to light after authorities identified irregularities in documents submitted for transplant approvals at private hospitals in Kochi. Following preliminary findings, police launched a detailed probe involving forensic examination of records, digital evidence, and communication between intermediaries and suspects.

The SIT has reportedly sought custody of the main accused for further questioning. Officials believe more individuals, including agents and document forgers, could be connected to the illegal operation. Investigators are also examining whether similar forged documents were used in earlier transplant cases.

Health department authorities stated that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found involved in violating organ transplantation rules. Medical institutions have also been instructed to strengthen verification procedures to prevent misuse of the system.

The investigation has raised serious concerns regarding illegal organ trade networks and loopholes in document verification processes. Legal experts and healthcare activists are demanding stricter monitoring and stronger enforcement mechanisms to ensure transparency in organ donation procedures.

Meanwhile, police continue to gather evidence from hospitals, government offices, and digital records as the probe expands. Authorities have assured that the investigation will be carried out thoroughly to identify all those involved and prevent similar incidents in the future.
