Hyderabad Police have expanded the use of artificial intelligence and smart surveillance systems as part of efforts to improve public safety and traffic management across the city. Officials say Hyderabad is becoming one of India’s leading cities in adopting AI-powered policing technologies.
The upgraded system reportedly includes AI-enabled cameras, facial recognition technology, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), and predictive monitoring tools designed to help authorities identify suspicious activities faster. Thousands of CCTV cameras are already installed across major roads, junctions, commercial areas, and sensitive public locations in Hyderabad.
Police officials say the technology helps improve traffic monitoring, crime detection, and emergency response efficiency. AI systems can reportedly detect traffic violations, abandoned objects, unusual crowd movement, and suspicious vehicle patterns in real time. Authorities believe such systems are necessary as Hyderabad’s population and traffic density continue increasing rapidly.
