Russia and Ukraine have once again accused each other of breaking newly announced ceasefire agreements, deepening doubts over the possibility of a near-term peace deal in the ongoing war. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed Russian forces launched hundreds of attacks, including drone and missile strikes, despite Kyiv’s proposed temporary ceasefire beginning on May 6.

According to Ukrainian officials, Russia allegedly violated the ceasefire more than 1,800 times within the first day, with attacks reported in regions including Sumy, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia. Ukrainian authorities said several civilians were killed or injured during the strikes.

Meanwhile, Moscow accused Ukraine of carrying out drone attacks on Russian territory and targeting areas near preparations for Russia’s upcoming Victory Day celebrations. Russian officials warned of possible retaliation if attacks continue during the national commemorations.

The latest ceasefire dispute comes amid renewed international efforts to revive stalled peace negotiations. However, analysts say the repeated accusations and continued battlefield clashes highlight the deep mistrust between both sides and the fragile nature of temporary truces in the conflict.
