A growing number of countries are signalling support for a newly created international body — dubbed the “Board of Peace” — intended to help guide post-war governance, reconstruction and stability in Gaza, according to multiple official statements and diplomatic sources.

The United States, which chairs the initiative under former President Donald Trump’s broader ceasefire and peace plan, has extended invitations to leaders from a wide range of nations. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has confirmed receipt of a U.S. invitation to join the board, and Islamabad reiterated its commitment to multilateral efforts aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict and achieving lasting peace in Gaza.

At least eight additional countries — including Hungary and Vietnam — have signalled they received invitations, and several have accepted terms that would see them contribute to reconstruction and governance efforts. Nations invited span Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, reflecting the initiative’s broad diplomatic reach.

Under the plan, a financial contribution could secure permanent membership, while shorter-term seats are available without such commitments. The board aims to oversee not only immediate reconstruction but also demilitarization efforts and the establishment of a new governance framework for Gaza. Final membership and detailed responsibilities are expected to be clarified at international meetings this year.
