Uttarakhand has officially become India’s sixth fully literate state after achieving a literacy rate of more than 98 percent. The achievement reflects years of focused government efforts to improve education through adult literacy programmes, school enrolment campaigns, and digital learning initiatives. Education experts described the milestone as a significant step toward inclusive development and improved human capital. Officials stated that continued investment in education infrastructure and teacher training will help sustain these gains while encouraging other states to pursue similar literacy goals.
