WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday unveiled key members of a new “Board of Peace” designed to oversee the transitional governance and reconstruction of war-torn Gaza, naming former British prime minister Sir Tony Blair and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner among the founding executive members. The White House statement said the board — chaired by Trump himself — will supervise the implementation of a broader 20-point peace and stabilization plan following a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas that has held since October.

The seven-member executive board also includes U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special envoy Steve Witkoff, World Bank President Ajay Banga, private equity executive Marc Rowan and Trump adviser Robert Gabriel. According to the announcement, each member will oversee specific portfolios related to Gaza’s governance, reconstruction, investment attraction and regional diplomacy.

In addition to the Board of Peace, the administration has appointed a separate Gaza Executive Board to support a newly formed National Committee for the Administration of Gaza — a Palestinian technocratic authority tasked with day-to-day civil governance. A U.N. mandated International Stabilization Force will be commanded by a U.S. general to help provide security and support demilitarization efforts under the peace plan.

Critics have raised concerns that the board’s composition — notably the inclusion of Blair and Kushner — reflects U.S. influence rather than local Palestinian leadership, with some observers likening the structure to a colonial-style oversight rather than a truly representative peace mechanism.
