Thailand has ordered a nationwide inspection of all entertainment venues after the deadly fire at Bangkok’s Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao pub claimed at least 30 lives and left dozens of people injured. The tragedy has sparked renewed concerns over fire safety standards in nightlife establishments.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has instructed the Ministry of Interior, local authorities, police, and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to inspect bars, pubs, clubs, and music venues across the country within 30 days. Any venue found violating fire safety regulations will face immediate suspension or closure until it complies with safety requirements.
The inspections will focus on emergency exits, fire alarm systems, firefighting equipment, electrical wiring, building occupancy limits, and overall compliance with safety regulations. Authorities aim to prevent similar incidents and improve public safety at entertainment venues nationwide.
Investigators believe the Bangkok fire may have been caused by an electrical fault, while blocked emergency exits and highly flammable interior materials are also being examined as possible factors that contributed to the high number of casualties. Officials have launched a full investigation into the incident, including potential negligence by the venue’s operators.
